There’s no mounting tension, nothing to cheer for, nothing to keep me riveted to the plot in order to read every scintillating detail – like exhaling with relief when they finally lose control of their tightly leashed restraint and ravage each other in a hayloft during a thunderstorm or somethingor biting my nails as the affair continues, wondering when their house of cards will fold in a dramatic crash.
