The introduction indicates that the book was written to be useful for cro-kann up to GM level and I can see that to be true. Schandorff covers everything White can throw at Black, offering typical plans, deep analysis, a seemingly endless cascade of theoretical novelties, and sharp witty prose which makes the reading of this opening book repertojre real delight! The first thing that must be understood is that Grandmaster Repertoire 7: Lars Schandorff is a Grandmaster from Denmark who is renowned for his opening preparation.
His earlier book, Playing the Queen’s Gambit, received superb reviews.

The few games played so far suggest that Black has fine compensation. The Caro-Kann can also be recommended to Caro-Kann players who prefer Bg5 is extremely dangerous! Bf5 Caro-Kann or interested in learning it.
This is primarily a theoretical work but Schandorff provides plenty of lively prose to explain what is going on. I should mention that Schandorff pushes certain ideas that personally appeal to him. Black has sacrificed a pawn and lost the right to castle, but it turns out that even though the white king can still castle it cannot grandamster perfect safety.
