The book contained alot of sterotypes that may or may not be true. This would have been particularly relevant for chapters on sex, marriage and parenting among others! These generalisations ultimately alienated me as a queer, feminine, appearance-conscious autistic woman.

It urges parents to step up to the plate but only after the Aspergirl herself is implored to look within. Simone seems hell-bent, frankly, on doing just that, and I wonder, again, how this constructed identity with a truly “heavy” clinical label of Austism now helps people.
